Why Your Attitude Determines Your Success

By: Elite Legacy Education, November 27, 2017

Attitude is the cousin of a positive mindset that’s required to achieve massive success. Zig Ziglar says, “The important and decisive factor in life is not what happens to us, but the attitude we take toward what happens.” (in his book, Steps to the Top).

This is certainly true. Kenneth W. Hagen says, “[its] why some people come out of tests and trials unscarred, while others are destroyed by the same set of circumstances.”

3 Universal Truths about Attitude

Hagen explains there are 3 key principles to attitude that everyone must understand.

  1. “Attitude is a choice” – it’s easy to blame a bad attitude on poor circumstances, but that’s a choice you’re making. You can choose to shift your perception of your circumstances by having a better attitude.
  2. “Attitude determines who we are and what we can do” – The attitude you choose to have will directly affect the circumstances you live. Have you heard of the Law of Attraction? It’s the idea that you will attract what you think about. This all comes back to your attitude.
  3. “Your attitude has the power to change your life” – This couldn’t be truer. Your attitude really is everything. It’s the choice you make to see challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles – which we know is a winning thought pattern, not a losing one.

How to improve your attitude

Here are some quick tips from Success.com on how you can improve your attitude.

  1. Positive affirmations – Reminding yourself of your best traits and self-value throughout the day will help you stay positive. Think of it as a pat on your back to send signals to your brain that it’s doing a good job.
  2. Discover your true motivations – Revealing the real reasons behind your actions will help remind yourself why you’re doing something in the first place.
  3. Visualization – The power of visualization should not be doubted. Engaging in this practice will help to boost your attitude.
  4. Exercise – Taking the time to get your body moving will pay off in many ways – one of them being a positive attitude.
  5. Humor and laughter – It’s always said that laughter is the best cure. This goes for having a winning attitude as well. While it’s good to be serious, you don’t want to forget how to have a good time too. This is where humor and laughter comes in handy.
  6. Show enthusiasm – Having enthusiasm for what you’re doing is a good way to stay positive. Remember to enjoy the journey, not just the destination! Otherwise you may get discouraged that things are not progressing quickly enough, rather than enjoying the learning process that is required to achieve the results you desire.

As you can see, there are lots of overlaps between having a positive attitude and mindset. You really can’t have one without the other. Either way, you’ll want to learn all the ways Elite Legacy Education can help you reach your goals.
